Welcome to ruth kole cargill.com

I paint with acrylic paint on canvas and wood with the music of the world in the background.  Creating paintings by experimenting with design, color, and texture gives me great satisfaction.   We exhbit at Art Fairs and Festivals in Northeast America.   Commissions are available.   Discussing art and meeting patrons at these venues is always enjoyed.

2010 Art Season

The second half of our 2010 art season begins August 1, in Boston.   Thanks to many patrons the first half was an enjoyable success.   I’ve stayed out of the heat in July to create some new artworks.  Hope to see you at an August or Fall venue.

2009 Art Season “Connections”

The 2009 art season has been full of satisfying “connections.”   Most important is the connection between artworks and patrons.  Each person has their own unique artistic eye.   When that eye connects with an artwork it’s been a very satisfying experience for all.

We’ve renewed acquaintance with many patrons and met many new ones over the year.    It’s great to connect with folks we appreciate so much.  The fellowship of exhibitors has also been highly valued.  Comparing experiences helps us all learn.  Finally there is the connection with the venues and the organizers.    Each show has it’s own character: street fairs, village greens, fields of dreams, parking lots or auditoriums.   The organizers and volunteers in 2009 have been outstanding.

Every venue has highlights for us, like the email from a newly married young man which reads in part:  “Your art is prominently displayed over our hearth, the heart and foundation of our home.  Your energy comes right through them and makes me smile every time I look.”

2008 Art Season Completed

The 2008 Art Season is completed and has been greatly enjoyed.  We participated in over twenty venues in the Northeast.   The first satisfaction of the season was creating original art.  Connecting with people, whether past patrons or new enthusiasts was the second great satisfaction of the season.  Thanks to all patrons, visitors, show organizers, volunteers and fellow exhibitors who made it a memorable 2008.

Ruth’s art continues to evolve.  Her process is always the same.  In her minds eye she sees designs, textures and colors.  International music that suits her mood is played.  Then Ruth paints, experimenting, refining until everything feels right.  In the next session the artwork is reconsidered, perhaps it’s worked on again and again until the painting is finished.   New subjects, designs and techniques have evolved this year.  The process continues into 2009.

Very Best,

Larry Cargill,  Ruth’s Partner/Husband

2008 ART SEASON BEGINS

The 2008 Art Season begins in ernest in May.  We are especially enthused this spring because we introduce new artworks painted on wood.  Ruth is starting with small 6″x6″x1.5″ paintings, which have become collectors items for patrons.     Ruth loves painting on the firm wooden surfaces.  New designs and techniques have emerged.  Husband Larry makes the wood foundations, which adds satisfaction to the creative process.   Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa on cottonwood.   It worked for him and we understand why.

Hope to see you at a show.

2007 Outdoor Art Season Completed

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce Art Fair on October 14, 2007 was our last show in the 2007 Outdoor Art Season.   We participated in eighteen shows in the northeast.  We thank our many art patrons who made this our most successful and gratifying season.  We share many memories of enthusiastic love of color, design and texture in many artworks now in patron’s private collections.  It’s been a year to remember.

Now Ruth has some exciting commissioned artwork to complete, as we make plans for the 2008  Art season.   Thank you all.
